This wall sculpture is made from one hundred and thirty two ceramic fuses from the GDR period in Leipzig.
I collected hundreds of these fuses from abandoned factories and houses all over the city. They were everywhere, still secured in old fuse boards on the wall or scattered all over the concrete floors.
Today, 10 years later, they are almost impossible to find. The city has completely changed, the old factories and houses are either demolished or renovated.
These beautiful little objects moulded by intense heat are no longer used having been replaced by the modern resetable trip switch.
